Redesigned last year, the Jeep Compass carries over with minimal changes for 2012. A new Latitude trim joins the lineup, providing value-added features such as heated front seats and a leather steering wheel with integrated audio controls.

New-for-2011 Jeep Compass exterior highlights include a new hood, new front fenders, new front and rear fascia, new headlamps, new LED taillamps, a new grille and new wheels. Interior upgrades for the 2011 Jeep Compass include new soft touch front-door trim panels with a padded upper surface; new center armrest; a new Jeep steering wheel with integrated audio; new cloth interior; standard speed control on all models; and new backlighting of switches. The Jeep Compass also boasts a retuned suspension for 2011, with higher spring and damping rates, added rebound springs, and an increased diameter of the rear sway bar.

Sharing the same platform as its stablemate, the Patriot, the Compass offers a choice of front-wheel or full-time four-wheel drive. Two trims are available: Sport and Limited, which have a 172-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is optional. A 158-hp 2.0-liter engine, available with the CVT only, is available on the FWD Sport trim. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control with roll mitigation, traction control and side-curtain air bags. The optional RALLYE Group provides 18-inch alloy wheels with performance tires, a body color kit, bright exhaust tip, driving lamp and spoiler. A multimedia infotainment system with 30-gigabyte hard drive, navigation system and UConnect wireless connectivity, is available.

For 2012, a new SRT8 trim has been added, featuring a 392 cubic-inch V8 engine, unique front and rear fascias, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, and real carbon fiber interior accents. Also a new six-speed automatic replaces the previous five-speed automatic when paired with the 5.7-litre V8 engine.

The Grand Cherokee is available in either a two- or four-wheel drive configuration with three trims levels: Laredo, Limited, and Overland. An all-new 280-hp 3.6-liter V6 and 5-speed automatic transmission are standard for all trims, while a 360-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is optional. Three four-wheel drive systems are available. A rear load-levelling suspension, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated leather seats, heated steering wheel, power liftgate, rear seat DVD entertainment system with Sirius Backseat TV, rear parking camera, and a multimedia infotainment system with 30-gigabyte hard drive, navigation system and UConnect wireless connectivity are available. The optional QuadraLift air suspension features full time four corner load leveling and improved off-road performance by increasing ground clearance. The available Selec-Terrain system's five modes provide ideal four-wheel drive performance for any condition.

The four-door Wrangler Unlimited, with a larger cargo area than the Wrangler, is one of the most versatile, off-road-capable Jeeps ever made. For open-air driving at the beach or on trail or even the just on the street, the standard soft top can be folded down or the available hard top can be taken off, the doors can be removed and the windshield can be folded down.
